How to Get Palindrome Destiny 2

The Palindrome is a Legendary Hand Cannon that first appeared in the original Destiny. It joined the roster of Destiny 1 weapons that transferred to the sequel during the Season of the Chosen. While sharing a basic design concept and appearance with the original item, the new version is substantially different. For one thing, it lacks the iconic Luck in the Chamber trait. The gun makes up for that loss with its versatile build and rich pool of perks. Keep reading to learn all about this prized Hand Cannon and how you could acquire it.
Weapon Overview
The Palindrome occupies the Energy slot and inflicts Void damage. Its intrinsic trait, Adaptive Frame, means that its stats are fairly well-rounded. The gun handles smoothly and is effective at short to medium range. Notably, it has a high base damage as well. Many players rate it above all other 140 rounds-per-minute Hand Cannons based on stats. Its perk variety is quite impressive as well. In particular, it remains one of a few guns that could get the Bottomless Grief perk, which refills your magazine with each final blow if the other Guardians in your Fireteam are dead. Depending on the random perks it gets, the Palindrome can excel in PvE or PvP.
Recommended Rolls
As with most Legendary weapons, the effectiveness of any given version of the Palindrome ultimately comes down to its perks. There are many good options there, including Hammer-Forged Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, Quickdraw, and Rangefinder. Some of them are clearly more useful than the others for its build. Also, certain combinations of perks can elevate this weapon to a whole other level, while others simply do not have that synergy. Here are some God Roll possibilities to consider:
- Outlaw and Rampage are the classic PvE combo, allowing you to string together kills with the help of reloading and damage bonuses. Appended Mag and Corkscrew Rifling can augment this playstyle nicely, making sure that you will not run out of ammo mid-rampage and helping you land all the shots you need. Overflow instead of Outlaw would also help sustain the attack. Alternatively, Rampage may be replaced with One for All, which gives a damage bonus for hitting multiple targets and can be especially useful when facing waves;
- Quickdraw and Rangefinder is the preferred Crucible set-up. Rangefinder extends the weapon’s effective range, which together with Quickdraw will help you take them by surprise. If you do not care about that so much, Killing Wind may be a superior option due to its general bonuses. However, it does require you to regularly score actual kills, which may be difficult when facing competent opponents. Hammer-Forged Rifling and Ricochet Rounds both help extend range, both directly and by letting you hit targets from behind cover – all very useful in PvP.
Farming the Palindrome
The Palindrome may only be obtained from Nightfall: the Ordeal strikes. Specifically, beating a strike in a week when the Palindrome is available gives you a chance to receive it in the end. The drop rate for any of the Nightfall weapons varies depending on your difficulty setting. It is estimated to range from 10% on Adept to 80% on Master. Getting the weapon may take many tries, especially if you are hunting for a specific perk. However, you will get plenty of other good loot in the process.
As of the Season of the Lost, Nightfall rewards rotate in a four-week cycle. The Palindrome and the Swarm are the potential rewards every fourth week. Barring any changes, they should be available on the following remaining weeks this season:
- December 7-14 (The Corrupted strike)
- January 4-11 (Lake of Shadows strike)
- February 1-7 (Proving Grounds strike)
Whether the Palindrome will remain available in future seasons is unclear. However, so far it has shown remarkable staying power, remaining one of the most popular Nightfall rewards despite the emergence of newer contenders like the Comedian. Given its versatile and solid build, it is definitely a weapon worth farming for. If you do not have the time or the patience to do it yourself, then let us run Nightfall: the Ordeal for you!
