Splicer Gauntlet Guide

The upgradeable quest item that allows players to claim extra rewards from the seasonal pursuits has become a Destiny 2 tradition. For example, the previous season had the Hammer of Proving, which could open bonus chests at the end of Battlegrounds. In a similar vein, the Season of the Splicer now has the Splicer Gauntlet, which players can use to extract greater benefits from the latest matchmade activity in the sci-fi shooter. Read on to learn how to utilize this item, and how it can be upgraded to better augment your powerleveling endeavors.
The Basic Mechanics
The Splicer Gauntlet is acquired early into the season’s storyline. After finishing the first two introductory missions, you will make contact with the Splicer Servitor in the new Eliksni Wing of the H.E.L.M. This robotic NPC will give you the Gauntlet, which you can later upgrade with its help. It also offers varied bounties that you can work on as part of the season’s pursuits and armor mods that help exploit the Elemental Wells that show up in PvE and Gambit (though you would need to raise your reputation with the Servitor to unlock those mods).
After having acquired the Gauntlet in your Quest inventory, you will begin to earn Ether simply by playing the game. Specifically, you will receive this currency whenever you vanquish enemies or complete activities of any kind, such as public events, Vanguard Strikes or PvP matches. At any moment, there are some activities that can offer greater Ether profits, but they change daily. You may wish to check the Director for the current bonus activity if you want to maximize your profits, though that is unlikely to be a major problem for most players given how readily available this currency is.
Without any improvements, you may not farm more than 100 Ether at a time. Once you reach this limit, you will need to use up your Ether by crafting Key Codes through the Gauntlet, which can hold up to three of those items at first. Each Key Code costs 50 Ether. At the end of each Override run, you will be able to deploy those Key Codes in order to unlock Conflux Chests. Their contents include pieces from the Lightkin Armor Set, exclusive weapons such as the Gridskipper Pulse Rifle, and Umbral Engrams that can be decoded into items of specific types. You can also collect a Pinnacle Reward by looting three Conflux Chests in a week.
Despite their seeming similarities, the Corrupted Conflux Chests found in Corrupted Expunge are a separate reward system. They are unlocked using Corrupted Key Cards which have a small chance to drop from any enemy in the game. While those chests’ basic reward pool is identical to that of ordinary Conflux Chests, it is possible to make them more lucrative by following one of the upgrade paths for the Splicer Gauntlet.
Upgrading the Gauntlet
Decrypted Data is the currency used to upgrade the Gauntlet. Earning it will also increase your reputation with the Servitor, even before you can spend it. The currency can be collected in several ways:
- looting Conflux Chests in Override;
- killing the rare Network Anomaly enemies in Override;
- completing certain Seasonal Challenges;
- progressing to certain Season Pass tiers.
Upgrades provide perks that make powerleveling with the Gauntlet more efficient in various ways, from making the seasonal activities easier to providing more rewards. Each perk has three tiers, requiring you to unlock the lower-tier upgrades before the higher-tier ones. Here are all the upgrades:

Corrupted Vex Chests can now drop up to 1 piece of seasonal gear with high-stat or double-perk rolls per week. | Vulnerability Exploit II: Corrupted Vex Chests have increased rewards and a higher chance to drop an Umbral Engram when opened. Corrupted Vex Chests can now drop up to 2 pieces of seasonal gear with high-stat or double-perk rolls per week. | Vulnerability Exploit III: Corrupted Vex Chests have increased rewards and a higher chance to drop an Umbral Engram when opened. Corrupted Vex Chests can now drop up to 3 pieces of seasonal gear with high-stat or double-perk rolls per week. |
Aside from the tier unlock requirement, there is no necessary order in which you must acquire those perks. Nevertheless, some of them are obviously more valuable than others. Raising your currency caps should be a high priority, as they can overflow pretty easily during the average gaming session. Improving your rewards would reinforce the main point of using the Gauntlet. Making the mission easier has its value as it helps complete runs faster and with less effort. However, you may be better off leaving those upgrades for later and instead getting PvE coaching if the Overrides are giving you a hard time.
The Splicer Gauntlet mechanic is fairly straightforward to use, especially compared to the strongly criticized transmogrification system. All you really have to do in order to benefit from it is play the game normally and keep track of your relevant currency incomes. If you so wish, though, you can certainly optimize your progress by planning out the desired upgrades in advance and farming the necessary currencies. It may require a little more effort, but it will give you access to more unique new rewards and bring you one step closer towards completing the Splicer Triumph Seal.
