Weekly Reset Activities

All but the most casual of Destiny 2 players are familiar with the weekly reset. Every Tuesday, much of the game’s content is refreshed. Several key activities are switched out and replaced with others of the same type. Even the content that doesn’t go away can undergo significant changes, as challenges are introduced and rewards are replaced. The Season of the Chosen has altered expectations when it comes to the week-to-week routine, removing the weekly bounties and replacing them with more long-term goals. However, many other regular pursuits remain, ensuring that dedicated players have a variety of tasks to take care of every week.

Ritual Rotation

Nightfall: the Ordeal might be the most prominent example of weekly content still in the game. Every reset brings with it another Strike for this high-level mode, along with different modifiers and special rules for all three difficulties. As a result, the Nightfall experience can vary drastically with each week. In addition to their heightened challenge, Nightfalls offer Powerful or greater rewards depending on the score earned, making them essential for players who want to get the most out of their week.

Vanguard Strikes don’t change on a weekly basis, but their elemental burn does. This modifier bolsters damage tied to a certain element for both Guardians and their enemies. Completing three Strikes with a subclass that wields the currently active element gives a chance to receive a Pinnacle reward. The Crucible is also partly affected by the reset. In addition to always active core PvP modes, it includes a rotator mode that is replaced seemingly at random every week.

Endgame Rewards

While Raids obviously don’t go away on reset, completionists still have cause to run them every week. All raids, even the relatively old ones like Last Wish or Garden of Salvation, receive weekly challenges that offer additional rewards if their requirements are met. Those rewards can include progress towards Triumph Seals as well as extra gear. Checkpoints and rewards for Raids and Dungeons are reset weekly. While Deep Stone Crypt and Prophecy are more farming-friendly than earlier activities of their types, wholly new gear is still only awarded on the first successful run of the week. Afterward, you can get Spoils of Conquest or alternate rolls respectively. That is likely to remain the model for endgame content going forward.

Legacy Content

Although Europa is no longer the latest in the shooter’s storyline, it still offers plenty of worthwhile weekly activities, many of them connected to Variks the Loyal. His Empire Hunts cycle between several bosses from the House of Salvation, while the Exo Challenges test player skills in complex simulations. Both can be upgraded to offer Pinnacle rewards, turning them into an excellent source of Legendary weapons.  Additionally, there is a roving Eclipsed Zone on the icy moon. When an open-world area is under this effect, it becomes more hazardous due to falling debris, but any visiting Guardians also receive a Stasis regeneration boost. The current zone is often a setting for quests or Heroic Patrols, making it a good spot for farming Herealways Pieces among other loot.

Some of the older content is also refreshed. For instance, the Earth’s Moon gets three Nightmare Hunts, which may still be of interest to completionist players or those with lower-level characters. The Dreaming City transforms predictably as its Curse waxes and wanes in a three-week cycle. It is also a setting for Ascendant Challenges – essentially, leftover weekly bounties were given by Petra Venj – that present a chance to seize mid-range rewards including Reverie Dawn armor pieces.

Even though the developers have reduced the number of weekly activities, they continue to play an important part in the everyday Destiny experience. Whether you are interested in power leveling or farming God Rolls, it is definitely worth paying attention to weekly activities and their changing conditions. Many of them are predictable and well-documented, so you should be able to prepare for them in advance and get the greatest possible benefits from this system.
