EFT is an FPS and survival game that can bring some significant challenges, especially if you are new. The game will put a test on your aiming, observation, movement control, and various other skills which can be unusual for some players. You will also have to be careful with managing the hideout and in your dealings with vendors.

The main task

The main task here would be the collecting of various valuables, mainly consisting of equipment and items. You can do that in any of several maps available through raids. The task is also complicated with the fact that you must manage to get the gathered loot to safety in one piece otherwise you will lose everything. In this case, you may also face hostile players who will aim to bring as much as it even possible along, including all your loot and gear. That will not be all for the enemies you will need to deal with, there will also be Scavs and Bosses, that does not mean they will pose less of a threat, though. During the early stages you will die a lot, so do not worry much on that account, that is a part of getting used to EFT.

Due to a lot of focus on realism in the gameplay, to perceive the surroundings you will mostly need to rely on hearing, as there will not be much visual support even on some basic characteristics. For example, to find out how many bullets left in the magazine, your character will have to pull out to count. Each movement you will have to make also needs to be careful and can be regulated according to the situation. You can benefit greatly from moving slowly because that would mean you will cause less noise. That is also where you need to evaluate the covers the right way so you could choose the fitting position and altitudes, it matters especially for lying down due to the extreme vulnerability. The game offers 5 stages between crouching and standing so all these altitudes have their own specifics. And such options as leaning and sidestep can effectively save your life.

The Customs raid is the best choice for beginners to try out, so we are mostly going to focus on this map from now on.

Preparation

You should not get right into the raid even if you are confident in your skills. Some time needs to be spent on preparations beforehand. There are 3 items that always need to be in your backpack are a bandage to deal with the bleeding, a splint in case you manage to get some bone fractured, and a medpack just for HP. As for the gear, there are also some helpful tips. A vest can be very helpful for carrying ammo, so you can have more space in the backpack for loot, just be watchful to sort the bullets into the fitting magazines for the guns that you prefer. And like in any shooter you will need to reload so keep an eye out while doing it.

Explore the map

Check out all the controls before rushing into the raid, and it is better to try out the map in an offline mode first, here you will also have a chance to choose whether you need to have AI opponents or not. Getting to know the map this way can be really helpful, and if you get AI you can also get some practice along the way. In any case, in the offline raid, you will not lose your items if you get defeated but you will not be able to carry any of the gathered loot out. You can also get some tips there for various quests, due to the fact that for the majority of them you either will need to get some certain loot or mark some places on the map.

When you enter the map, go to the blue-colored cabins not far from you, there will be enough loot piles for you to look through. You have an opportunity to see in the dark, for that activate the tactical torch. A flashlight might be too noticeable for any enemies but still can be used in your favor in some situations as it can blind another player in a close range.

Head for the main warehouse, where you will get to find a lootable crate on the left side of the door. On the whole, green boxes are usually very beneficial, so it is better to look for those. But when you open any doors or crates, you make noises that can catch unneeded attention, even Scavs can react to it, so be wary of your surroundings.

After that, you can just walk around getting acquainted with the location and then leave this area bypassing the door of a small cabin near and head for the rails. If AIs are on the map that is where you need to start keeping the lookout. This is where you will have to stick to all the possible covers while getting closer to the train. Also, avoid running while not engaged in battle in such a dangerous zone. Running should only be used to escape if someone shoots at you from an undetermined direction, in any other situation such loss of stamina will affect the steadiness of your aim.

Railroad

If you decide to cross the railroad, there you will stumble upon a bridge with a pile of cars, that is where you get a high chance of spotting a patrol of Scavs. In this first encounter with an enemy, use all your skills to defeat them without drawing much attention to your position. Getting used to the aiming here might be a bit difficult as the only thing is iron sights, or if you are lucky to loot some optics that can also make the experience a bit easier.

If you managed to come out of the fight as a winner, you get a chance to get the enemy items and gear. Though, there is a possibility that there can be a sniper on a factory roof so look for him first. If the coast is clear go right ahead. Do not forget to treat any earned injuries, that is where all medication will come in handy. Determine the type of damage you have received and use the corresponding item on the needed part and wait for the process to finish. This is also a very vulnerable time for you so try to find a safe cover first.

Finding an exit

When you are finished with all of that, you should concern yourself with the issue of finding the exit. The fact that you have patched up does not mean that you can rush into another fight. You already have some decent amount of loot, so it is time to look for an extraction point. If you managed to find some keys the task can be even easier.

Generally, if you are near that location, you will need some time to arrive at the exit. Follow the main road to another railway with a gas station near. That is where another patrol usually strolls and you think you can handle another fight, you can try dealing with them as well. Otherwise, just pass them carefully.

Turn left and go follow the line of the wall on the right side of the road until you see a hole in it, which will be your way out. On your way there is also a checkpoint with a squad of Scavs guards, so do your best to pass them unnoticed if you can. Of course, you can use this opportunity to try out AKS-74U that you have looted previously, there will be less risk because you will always have an option of just sprinting to the wall and pass it.

After passing the wall, you will need to get through the gate as well, do not forget about the snipers on top of the roof again while doing all that. On the left side, you will see a railway line, it will serve you as a guide to follow it until it changes the direction to the right. That is where you need to find a bunker in the bushes a bit to the left.

When you enter it you will just have to be on the lookout until the extraction is complete. If you managed to do all that, you can consider having survived through the first raid.
